GFAC Linden Gravel Ride

  • Linden County Park 15349 Linden Road Linden, MI, 48451 United States (map)

You are invited to some Linden Dirt Road Riding Fun!! A few changes to how we will be splitting up-all flexible depending on who shows up. Every single rider is getting stronger and I’m loving it!!! Thank you all for showing up and being awesome.

HOT SHOT group rides 22 miles at 18 mph+ and you could get dropped. No big deal if you know the route. Just spin easy and recover until the AWESOME group to roll along. Both groups are rad and friendly.

AWESOME group rolls 15-16 mph for 22 miles and will look out for each other but mostly keep rolling. If you find yourself riding alone consider slowing down or stopping for a minute until the next group comes along and rolling with them.

AWESOMER group rides a little more comfortably 13-15 mph & will re-group at major turns. MOST riders in this group will be going 22 miles.

AWESOMEST group will start with the AWESOMER group but may split off on their own. This group is approximately 12 mph and can go 17 or 22 miles depending on who shows up. The designated sweeper will go 17 unless nobody is going 17 in which case the sweeper gets to choose!
Go with the group that fits you best. No shame in starting with one group and dropping back if you you aren’t there yet or just want to meet some new people! Every group is friendly and ass holery is frowned upon by GFAC no matter where you are riding. This is FUN.
Join us for some no drop gravel! We will have 2-3 pace groups and a designated volunteer to sweep each week-which means you don’t need to worry about being left behind. Our no drop ride does not mean that we can guarantee someone to ride at your pace, but it does guarantee we won’t ride off and leave you feeling lost!
PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE EVENT DESCRIPTION BEFORE YOUR FIRST RIDE WITH US! If you have questions email greaterflintathleticclub@gmail.com
No Drop! All Fun! 17 OR 22 miles from Linden County Park. Roll out at 6 PM sharp so don't be late!
Read on for the details including links to route maps. You will also find "No Drop Gravel Ride" Under the file tab in this facebook group.
Who should attend? Riders should be comfortable riding their bike, stopping/starting, shifting, riding with traffic, etc. but can be new to gravel rides and/or group rides. If this is you, please let us know when you get there. If you turn around early, bail on the ride or for any reason do not return to the park, you should let us know. We try hard to keep tabs on everyone.
This ride is geared towards newer riders. More experienced riders are encouraged to attend to help support others and allow us to learn from each other. Minors must be accompanied by an adult.
We do not recommend making this group ride your first ride of the year. Please take your bike for a test spin before attending a group ride. If you need bike maintenance we recommend calling CycleFit Sports in Fenton.
All mountain, gravel, fat, E or otherwise dirt friendly bikes welcome! This week we will be changing the route just a bit for some bonus miles. At Bird & Lahring you will turn right onto Lahring. Continue on Lahring to Sheridan. Left on Sheridan to Rolston. Left on Rolston to Hogan! Stop at Bird & Lahring to regroup instead of Smith & Bird. Let us know your plan to help keep everyone safe. Awesome-est group (group 3) will ride 17 miles.

These roads offer a variety of conditions & all attendees should know that dirt road riding is more challenging than pavement. Plan to work hard while having fun. Minimum expected moving pace is 12 mph for the 17 mile route and 13-14 mph for the 22 mile route. We do have a volunteer each week (the MVP of the week) who rides sweep on the 17 mile only, so long as you are committed to going the distance we are committed to helping you finish.
First re-group will be at the Acorn Way sub division to the right off Hogan Road. Expect a comfortable roll out and be extra aware of traffic to this point. Everyone should cross Silver Lake Rd when it is safe to do so-do not blindly follow the person in front of you.
Must have:
•dirt road/gravel compatible bike in good working order! Visit CycleFit Sports in Fenton if you have any questions about the condition of your bike. They will set you up!
